Teaching is like a box of chocolates, you never know.... well you know the rest. You walk in on day 1 and surprise! You have 3 kids who can already read and comprehend fluently. You have a kid who doesn't know his really name and swears his name is Pookie. Your class contains far too many children who pick their noses and 5-6 who have no idea how to hold a pencil and know nothing about writing the letters in their name. ("Wait, there are letters in my name...") So as teachers we do all we can to prepare for those first few days of school, because you really have to be ready for ANYTHING. I find I go crazy organizing for the new school year during my 2 1/2 month unpaid teacher planning (I mean summer break).
What kinds of things do you have to have organized before you go back to school to not feel overwhelmed by the new school year?
I have just created this homework/classwork pack for the #TPTSellerChallenge in hopes of being more organized. It is 38 pages of math and literacy to cover a wide variety of needs for your kindergarten room.
